Doctoral Colloquium Invitation

A doctoral colloquium will be held for the eighth year as part of the FIBE 2012 conference (Research Conference in Business Administration) on Wednesday, January 4th , the day prior to the main conference commencing.

The colloquium offers doctoral students an opportunity to present and discuss their doctoral research with leading academics in their field of research, as well as to interact with fellow doctoral students working with similar research problems.
Doctoral students who wish to attend the colloquium to present and discuss their research are required to present a short proposal of 4-5 pages addressing:

• their research problem
• how it relates to present insight
• intended contribution
• how the research problem is planned to be studied

The proposal should be submitted no later than November 18th, 2011 Sunday, November 27th, 2011.

Doctoral students wishing to discuss a dissertation made up of a collection of articles/essays are required to focus on one article/essay for their submission.

The number of participants in the colloquium is restricted. Submissions will be evaluated and selected for presentation according to their level of research interest, novelty and relevance. Doctoral students will be notified of acceptance of their proposal by Friday December 9th 2011. Students whose submissions are accepted, will automatically be registered for participation in the colloquium.

The doctoral colloquium will be organised as parallel tracks according to topics. A time slot of 45 minutes is allocated to present and discuss each proposal. Presenters are requested to prepare a short presentation of 12 - 15 minutes with emphasis on their research problem, intended contribution and research approach.

The doctoral colloquium is primarily for doctoral students in the first or second year of the program. Those who are on a later stage in the doctoral program are encouraged to present their paper at a parallel session at FIBE and to participate at the doctoral colloquium at the National Research School Conference. Participation in the doctoral colloquium is free and includes lunch and attendance at the National Research School Dinner. For participants who are members of NFB, NFB will cover travel expenses at economy fares and hotel expenses at one of the conference hotels. NFB will also pay the FIBE conference fee for external (not NHH) member participants.
