Economics

The focus of this specialisation is on how the discipline of economics can contribute to the understanding of the concept of a business firm and its many operations.

Two areas stand out: The theory of incentives (or contracts) and industrial organisation. The first area is about the internal organisation of the firm, how to motivate, guide and control co‐workers. The second area is about the firm’s external organisation in terms of acquiring resources for production and selling products in markets or through alliances. As such, we consider only a subset of the field of economics in the research school. These two areas are among the most popular sub‐disciplines of research in economics, and they attract scholars from a wide array of other disciplines, providing a comprehensive basis for interdisciplinary research.
